FASHION 101: BEACH, GRAPHIC TEES & THE TREASURE IN YOUR CLOSET
Sudden beach getaways? Suffocationg crew neck shirts? Overspending online? Don’t worry coz this section has got you covered! Today, I will talk you through the different tips and tricks on how to up your graphic tees, prepare for an unprecedented walk on the beach and take advantage of that diamond within your dresser! So go grab a snack, and enjoy reading!

Living in a tropical country makes me feel like an expert in dressing up for beach gatherings (basta gatherings count me in! Charr!!) But, what will you do if you ran out of clothes to wear? Who you gonna call? The Ghostbusters? I don’t think so. The last thing you want for dressing up along the shoreline is a beachside-fashion road kill so don’t worry, I have just the tip for you!

Personally, wearing black on the beach is a deal-breaker for me but, as I’ve said earlier, we will work out with what we have and make something out of it. So, for this look, I just threw on some sleeveless and put on a hat just to make it a lil’ bit extra (and also, nothing screams more ‘beachy’ than a good old fedora or a straw hat. Alam mo yan mars!) and there you go! A quick-made beachside look fresh off the suitcase!

Here’s another look for a graphic shirt that I can offer to you mga mars! For this ensemble, I want you to focus only on the shirt and nothing more (eyes off the bukirin baks, Miss Cynthia don’t want you staring at her future subdivisions! Char!!) Anyways going back, I’m here to give you some tip on how to elevate your good old graphic tees. If you’re tired of hiding that long and ‘modelesque’ neck of yours (taray, ostrich ka ghorl?) and had enough of crew neck shirts choking down your windpipe, why not try cutting it down to a V? This will free your upper extremities from any feeling of tightness and will give that sexy collarbone of yours more ‘air-time’, literally. After which, just threw on a couple of accessories and your done!

Don’t be afraid to do it mars! Go get that scissor and cut, cut, cut! Go show the world some skin coz in 2020, SKIN IS IN! Body shaming is so out-dated and it’s about time to crush society’ shallow standard on beauty and sexiness. More self love this year, ganoin!

This look has a very different vibe for me because the clothes that I am wearing holds a lot of memories, for sure. I want to give myself a tap on the back on this one for giving it another vibe I feel like I pulled this off better than my momma, and yes! I’m comparing this look with my mom’s because this is just a ‘hand me down’ kind of garment and I feel like I made it look like I just purchased it last week (or at least that’s how I felt while wearing this look hehe). But anyways, what I am trying to say here is that you don’t have to go through every boutique or waste your time browsing through Lazada and Shopee to look for a good pair of cloth. Sometimes, the treasure that you’re looking for lies deep within your dresser. All you have to do is make time and do some decluttering. Go raid your closet,  your mom’s closet or even your grandma’s! I’m sure you’ll be able to find one!

But, if you’re that ‘Dora Marquez’ type of person – you know that one friend of yours who constantly explores different online shops to buy at – and you insist on buying brand new clothes, don’t worry coz I have the map for you! Aside from filling your shopping carts on Lazada and Shopee, I highly recommend you check out Shein and Zalora. I consider them two of my go-to shops in buying my clothes online. They both offer a wide variety of choices and an excellent quality for their products! I super love them and I’m confident that you will too! Go check them out!

On this section, I will talk you through the ‘behind the scene’ moments of this shoot. These include my near-death experience with cars and my current ‘comfort cave’ during this quarantine. So buckle-up coz this reading’s about to get more exciting!

BTS 1: UNDER THE POMELOS
Don’t you just love the aura of the pomelos? (Di samin yan sa kapitbahay, char!) No but seriously, shooting this felt like an artwork and it looked like one. Everything feels so perfect every time I sit here, sip my coffee and watch the sun set. I couldn’t even fathom the amount of energy and the feeling of happiness I get every time I’m under this tree. It exudes that aura of assurance that makes you feel better, not just about yourself but everything around you as well. That is why this serves as my current comfort lounge during these trying days, and I suggest for you to do the same thing as well. Go find a private space within the comfort of your homes and try to reflect and at least meditate. Always remember, “Jowa is life but Mental Health is lifer! Dibale ng walang giliw, wag lang mabaliw. Char!)

BTS 2: DANGER ZONE

This picture had a lot to tell (obviously). Me sitting on the middle of the road was so much fun! The thrill of waiting for the final result to come out was such an experience, and I guess it turned out just fine given that I’m going for that ragged look while still maintaining a certain amount of sophistication (or at least that’s how I envisioned my look to be.)

I remember posing for this and the series of mini heart attacks I had every time one of my cousin shouts “may sasakyan nanaman!” and we would run off the road laughing. It was indeed a ‘buwis-buhay’ kind of experience. Right after the shoot, a two sports car came rushing down the road having a drag race. Imagine seeing a white Porsche and a red Ferrari car racing in-front of you after the very end of your shoot. I can’t even express the amount of relief and gratitude I have at that time! Can you imagine me staying at the hospital while writing this blog? Ugh, I could never mga mars!
